About the Course

Digital Marketing Institute is the global standard in Digital Marketing Certification. Our mission is to give our students the confidence and knowledge they need to advance in their careers through this specialization. More than 3.6 billion people globally are using social media in 2021 so social is certainly popular. But with advertising spend on social expected to surpass $100 billion in 2021, clearly social media is as much about big business, competition, and profit as it is about connecting people. If you want to understand the forces transforming businesses today and, in particular, the key challenges facing social media marketers as they attempt to cut through the noise, engage their audiences, and demonstrate tangible business value, this course will help you do so. You will learn the core principles of social media marketing before drilling deeper into engaging, nurturing, and building a loyal social community. After completing this course, you will be able to: - • Identify the benefits and advantages to a business of using social media to engage an audience • Differentiate between the social platforms used by businesses and their relative advantages for targeting consumers • Set up a social media account for a business • Build, manage, and sustain an active social media community This course also introduces social content strategy and explains how to balance the advantages of organic social content seeding against the immediacy of paid social content promotion. It covers how to implement a content strategy and the basics of measuring its effectiveness. This is the second course in the Digital Marketing Institute’s Social Media Marketing specialization. On completion of all courses in your Specialization, you will also be awarded a Digital Marketing Institute Certified Digital Marketing Associate certification, along with three months of free Power Membership, allowing you to boost your career and unlock your next opportunity. 92% of DMI members have said their courses have had a positive impact on their careers, while 88% are now working at senior or manager level....

The only problem is that peer-review is done by the course participants and sometimes they are not qualified for it.

Course is generally good; I did learn a lot. The presenters are good, though not always great; I think they could be more engaging. There is a sense that there is a bit of repetition; perhaps this is not such a bad thing as it can lead to more retention, but it is notable at times. Finally, there are few examples; if you are starting from a palce of not having used the social media platforms much, sometimes features and formats are thrown around that could really use visual and video examples. The assignments don't always tell you they will be much more rewarding if you choose a product or brand (real or invented) before starting; make sure you decide what the product is before starting to plan any slice of a campaign! This is true for all these courses.

Through this course, it really taught me a lot when it comes to social media platforms and content strategies. All the lessons are essential and very informative.

Peer review is difficult at first; It is like a baby thesis. But it will really help you to think outside the box and learn to apply everything that you learn from syllabus.

Thank you so much for offering this course here in Coursera. It will help everyone to gain more knowledge and for career growth as well.

The course doesn't have a hands-on tasks which are relevant. Tasks are more in a form of a questions related to persons experience and opinions. If you are a beginner the last task can be confusing because there is no example to follow. You can see that in the other peoples work that you need to grade. There is no consistency as the was no proper explanation. Any supporting materials in the course one is not able to access unless is a prime member of DMI, so it is not of use even on Coursera plus. Lecturers, for me personally, are without energy and don't keep attention.
